1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Illini2Illini (“Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”).

If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.

2. Eligibility and Account Requirements

You may use the Platform only if you:

  • Are at least 18 years old
  • Register using a valid @illinois.edu email
  • Provide accurate, complete, and current information

You are solely responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account
  • All activity under your account

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for any violation of these Terms.

3. Platform Nature and No Involvement in Transactions

Illini2Illini is a connection-only platform.

We:

  • Do not own, lease, or manage any property
  • Do not broker, facilitate, or guarantee any transaction
  • Do not verify the accuracy, legality, or safety of listings or users
  • Do not participate in agreements between users

All interactions, agreements, and transactions occur solely between users.

4. No Verification Guarantee

While the Platform may require a verified @illinois.edu email:

  • This does not guarantee identity, intent, or legitimacy
  • This does not constitute background checks or user verification beyond email ownership

You assume all risk when interacting with other users.

5. User Obligations

You represent and warrant that:

  • You have the legal right to post any listing
  • All information you provide is accurate and not misleading
  • Your actions comply with all applicable laws and lease agreements

You agree NOT to:

  • Post false, misleading, or fraudulent listings
  • Misrepresent ownership or authorization
  • Engage in scams, harassment, or illegal activity
  • Circumvent platform restrictions
  • Copy, scrape, or exploit platform data without permission

6. Listings and Content

You are solely responsible for:

  • All content you post
  • The accuracy of listings, pricing, and availability

We:

  • Do not guarantee listing accuracy or availability
  • Do not verify ownership or lease rights
  • May remove, modify, or restrict any content at any time, for any reason, without notice

7. Contact and User Interaction

The Platform may allow you to access another user’s contact information.

By using this feature:

  • You acknowledge Illini2Illini is not involved in communications
  • You accept all risks associated with interacting with other users
  • You agree not to misuse contact information for spam, harassment, or unauthorized purposes

8. Prohibited Uses

You may not use the Platform to:

  • Conduct fraud or deceptive practices
  • Collect user data without consent
  • Distribute malicious software
  • Interfere with platform functionality
  • Attempt unauthorized access to systems

Violation may result in immediate account termination and legal action.

9. Enforcement and Moderation

We reserve the right to:

  • Remove listings or content
  • Suspend or ban users
  • Restrict access to the Platform

These actions may be taken:

  • At our sole discretion
  • Without prior notice
  • Without obligation to provide explanation

10. Assumption of Risk

You acknowledge and agree that:

  • Use of the Platform is at your own risk
  • Housing arrangements involve inherent risks, including fraud, disputes, and financial loss
  • You are solely responsible for verifying listings, agreements, and users

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

Illini2Illini and its operator shall not be liable for:

  • Any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Any losses arising from user interactions or agreements
  • Any inaccuracies in listings or user content
  • Any disputes between users

If liability is found, it shall be limited to $0 or the minimum amount permitted by law.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Illini2Illini and its operator from any claims, damages, or liabilities arising from:

  • Your use of the Platform
  • Your content or listings
  • Your interactions with other users
  • Your violation of these Terms

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Platform is provided “as is” and “as available.”

We make no warranties regarding:

  • Accuracy
  • Reliability
  • Availability
  • Fitness for a particular purpose

14. Termination

You may stop using the Platform at any time.

Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict of law principles.
